The second largest island in Polynesia, Nuku Hiva is massive and mountainous. One easily notices the edges of the caldera in a concentric semi-circle around the bay of Taiohae. On the route of the caldera of the first volcanic edifice of the Island, is its highest point, Mount Tekao at 1224m. Nearby, and in the center of the island, we identify the plateau of Toovii, whose configuration is very flat.
