The island of Rurutu is part of the Austral archipelago, located south of French Polynesia. Volcanic island whose highest point is Mount Taatioe at an altitude of 389m, it holds its specificity by the presence of remains of raised reefs. This tectonic movement has allowed the coral limestone to rise up to 150m above the current sea level.
