A volcanic island in the Indian Ocean with 210 km of coastline, Réunion is made up of two volcanic buildings. To the northwest culminates at 3070m the Piton des Neiges, surrounded by three vast cirques generated by the erosion and collapse of the volcano. Towards the south-east of the island, it is the Piton de la Fournaise which dominates at an altitude of 2632m, a particularly active volcano, with an average of one eruption per year.
